Sandia team researches cause of Sago Mine disaster

A team of researchers from Sandia National Laboratories recently visited the Sago Mine in West Virginia to determine if lightning might have caused the mine’s Jan 2, 2005 explosion. Hours of digging at a hot spot off Underwood Road on Friday showed no evidence of a mine fire.

Radial: Block 100 Drilling to Resume in Mid-January

Oil company Ziegler Peru expects to resume drilling the Ucayali basin’s block 100 in Peru in mid-January, US oil company Radial Energy–a 20% stakeholder in the block–said in a statement.

China orders closure of another 1,053 unsafe coal mines

The State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) on Friday published a list of another 1,053 unsafe coal mines that must be closed, after having closed 651 this year.
